Just got my copy of Great American July by Asa Morris (musician: Black Andy and Ghoul Poon, co-director of Lofi Kabuki Records, friend).
This (not quite a) novel as he puts it is a collection of short stories, rants, and off the cuff drunken lunacy written throughout 2011, including the popular short stories “The Fourth of July with Marie”, “Ted, the Piss Cat,” and many more. A celebration of summer, love, heat strokes, and a crippling fear of responsibility, GREAT AMERICAN JULY asks “Why bother? Isn’t it nice to just lay in the sun?”
These works appeared on his blog A Scene In Public over the last year and range from outrageously funny to devastatingly depressing and everywhere in between. Check it out for cheap at Amazon.
