A new throwback: this is my rediscovered and finished 2009 skate part. Basically a continuation/ left over/ following year of “Dirty Maneuver” (2008).
The footage was mostly filmed by Ryan Cambage and Casey Schultz throughout 2009 in various Upstate, NY locations – Saratoga, Glens Falls, Lake George, Warrensburg, & Wilton.
It was  all shot on MiniDV tape via an SD Sony Handicam and fisheye lens attachment. The footage was captured and sorted over the years until this month when I finally reviewed, arranged, and edited it.

Music by Devon Williams
“Bells” from Carefree, 2008 Ba Da Bing! and “New Guidance” from Beyond the Beyond, 2015 self released.

Full credits and thank you’s at the end of the video.
Produced by Rated gnaR Films / Bad Culture Films ©2017.

Anxiety

While we were still all together in Saratoga and banging out that music video, Contact Kiss recorded 1 NEW song, and probably the last for a while, “Anxiety.”

The song has screaming of course, but a more ‘mature’ sound that isn’t so high-pitched and brutal. Musically it’s the same CK format but more sludgy then fast, blast-beat punk. There’s still a noisy, non-sense guitar solo of course. It’s a different sound for the band for sure, but we’re always changing it up since we record once every 1 or 2 years?

Check it out and download our entire discography which will be released (hopefully) on black chrome cassettes in the UK under the label OhrProblem
We’re exited.

can’t wait for the snow to go away…

Happy New Year!
Well another year wraps up, and another interesting one at that. Many great things went on and were accomplished in 2013, and some very not so great things… but it seems that everything is OK and thats a good enough reason to push forward and hope for a good 2014. There are some things in the works and I hope I can stay ambitious with them and be a little more creative and productive than I have been recently.

Expect new music, new shows, new videos, and hopefully a new era in Super Dark Collective, mainly Super Dark HomeVideo… stay tuned.

In the meantime here are my Facebook photo albums of the past year: Shows and Miscellaneous.

Back in June, Casey and I wanted to make a video for National Go Skateboarding Day aka the first day of summer aka June 21st 2013. We wanted to do something different, something interesting in the world of skateboarding and for ourselves. So Saturday June 22 we grabbed the video camera, tossed our boards in the car, and drove an hour north to Hague, NY to Rogers Rock Campground. There’s a nice mountain trail there leading up to a beautiful view over Lake George. We made our way to the top stopping off where we felt inspired and challenged to skate. There were moments where we put ourselves at serious risk of being hurt or killed but all in good fun and filmmaking. Also, skating on rocks is very difficult and this video doesn’t do justice to how tough it is. We had a blast, enjoy.

Here’s an excerpt of the performance by Lea Bertucci and William Rees at Spring Street Gallery in Saratoga Springs, NY 7/6/13.

The video captures not only the sound and visual of the musicians themselves but also an interesting look at a couple pieces from the photography exhibit “Faces of Nepal” by Emma Dodge Hanson

Also a piece of Lea’s solo clarinet performance before the two of them played

OK! SO, before music and smart phones consumed my life (and many of our lives) I used to skateboard a lot more and film, edit, and produce skate video with some rad, talented, & inspiring friends. 10 years ago we were hoping to put out a semi-full length skateboarding film for fun and documentation - a little slice of people and spots within our Saratoga Springs skate scene. Before iPhones, we carried around a MiniDV tape camcorder with a fisheye lens (all standard, at best, quality at the time) and went everywhere and hit every spot we could with basically no money or regard for the rules. We filmed mostly in 2008 & 2009 around Saratoga and other Upstate, NY places in hopes to upload this thing on YouTube (which had only existed for like 3 years). As time went on, the concept kind of got abandoned and as the parts were slowly finished they popped online and eventually that’s where they all ended up. BUT NOW, for the first time ever, the full film is actually complete (enough) and presented for nostalgic good fun. Those days and the people involved with this video were so important, fun, and inspiring to me. The good ol’ days. Love you all, and skateboarding, and I’m still throwin’ down as much as I can <3 Rated gnaR Films (in association with Bad Culture Films & Rec City Skates) presents DIRTY MANEUVER 25+ minutes (plus bonus videos) featuring @superdarkchris @casey_gnar @paullydiamond @toilet_victim @zakyounginstafam and Dan Levy Please excuse the quality of (some of the skating & antics haha) and the decade old equipment. Times can be uncertain, sad, & scary... like now... which reminds me of my twenties heh... so seems like an appropriate time, since no can do much anyway, to let you know my two lofi solo albums are on all streaming sites (and bandcamp) if anyone is interested. Both compiled/ created during my 20’s and represent a specific, nostalgic journey and moments in my life during that era. Both are experimental in some way, but the first album is songs that came to be over time and whether winged or half-written I chose to make exist instead of forgetting them or not creating a all. I’d call if lofi alt-folk post-punk I guess. The second album is instrumental and structured loop based “practice jams” basically, but they have their moments and meaning all recorded randomly in a year span while living on Church St in Saratoga where Super Dark Collective was born. I’d call it lofi experimental loop jams. I was inspired at the time to actually collect all of these lofi weirdo sad time half songs and put them out thanks to Asa, Shane, Kieran, & Tony. Hope you all are doing well and staying healthy and safe out there! Much love!
