A new throwback: this is my rediscovered and finished 2009 skate part. Basically a continuation/ left over/ following year of “Dirty Maneuver” (2008).
The footage was mostly filmed by Ryan Cambage and Casey Schultz throughout 2009 in various Upstate, NY locations – Saratoga, Glens Falls, Lake George, Warrensburg, & Wilton.
It was  all shot on MiniDV tape via an SD Sony Handicam and fisheye lens attachment. The footage was captured and sorted over the years until this month when I finally reviewed, arranged, and edited it.

Music by Devon Williams
“Bells” from Carefree, 2008 Ba Da Bing! and “New Guidance” from Beyond the Beyond, 2015 self released.

Full credits and thank you’s at the end of the video.
Produced by Rated gnaR Films / Bad Culture Films ©2017.

Rated gnaR Films presents Christopher Brown’s skate part from the film “Dirty Maneuver” which never saw a full/ finished DVD release but appears in many parts online (see dirty maneuver tab for all the skate parts and trailers).

After sitting on this footage for four years I finally got the motivation and determination to get it out there. Originally there was another whole year of footage to review, edit, and add in, but i decided to just make it 2008 only and save 2009 for perhaps another video in the future. While to me this skate part should probably be called “Sketchy Maneuver” haha it captures a prime skateboarding year for me when considering devotion, determination, fun, and accomplishments.

This footage was shot from Spring to Fall in 2008 in various location of upstate, NY, including:
Saratoga Springs, Wilton, Ballston Spa, Glens Falls, Schenectady, and Albany.

One of the interesting things about this video is the history and use of different spots. You can see old pieces of Saratoga that don’t exist anymore, or short lived spots in the process of construction. You can also see classic spots that have been skated many times before, and things/ places you have seen but wouldn’t have considered ‘made for skating.’ As a skater’s perspective it’s a cool trip down memory lane…we all miss the self serve.

Filmed mostly by Ryan Cambage and Casey Schultz, with additional filming by Tony Delessio, Daniel Levy and Zak Young.
Edited by me with music by Turbonegro. I originally wanted to skate to a Turbo song so inspired to still do so i choose “Into the Void” a bonus song off of their 2007 album Retox because it was fresh at that time in 2008 and a fun tune which like many of their other songs are quite fitting for skating i feel. Song courtesy of Cooking Vinyl Records and Kontor New Media.
Produced by Rated gnaR Films. Copyright 2012 Rated gnaR/ Bad Culture Films.

It is still in 2008 quality however because this footage was originally shot on miniDV, mostly with a fisheye lens which cut down some of the lighting and clarity, and was originally captured onto a PC with a consumer strength editing program. It was then outputted to 5 different files of “good takes” brought onto a mac and converted again to files that were mac compatible. Finally edited and outputted as a final quicktime file, haha what a process.

This video is dedicated to Daniel Levy, a fellow skater/ artist who’s no longer with us, who inspired us and pushed us to try harder and skate better. There were a lot of fun times and great memories, and it was during the filming of this video where I first met Dan. He is truly missed.

I am hoping/ planning on having a Dirty Maneuver showing at Spring Street Gallery in Saratoga featuring my part as well as Zak Young, Paul Decrescenzo, Casey Schultz and Daniel Levy. Date and everything to be determined.

There is also tons of bonus footage to be compiled into an edit or two later as well…
Thanks to everyone involved and thank you for watching!

OK December, it’s time to get crackin…

Rated gnaR Films, and Bad Culture, presents Skatepark Shenanigans. Recently this summer 2011 there has been some small skate footy captured here and there, mostly at skateparks, so instead of holding onto it where no one sees it, and since it doesn’t have a proper home, I have decided to put out a small segment of this random footy. So the first, of maybe more, installment is thus: Skatepak Shenanigans.

Filmed by Ryan and myself, edited by me, produced by Rated gnaR Films, and features original, local music by Black Andy (the project of Asa Morris). The song is from a 2010 EP titled Manhattan.Death.Pose. and it, and many more, are free to download at: http://lofikabuki.bandcamp.com

ALSO, Dirty Maneuver…
I feel the need to give the latest for this forever skate film in the not making…
Currently All official parts are online on my youtbe and in the DM section except Dan Levy because of copyright music (currently being worked on fixing maybe) and myself becasue i’m least important (also somewhat in the working)… so there ya expect a full online relase sometime with its own, updated segment on here.

Peace!

Over the summer I filmed a short two day part with Casey and Ryan. We hit up Saratoga and Lake George, and got a very small amount of footage. It was the last Casey footage before he went to Afghanistan, and in honor of his 10 years of skateboarding. It’s pretty cool, and being up on Prospect Mountain looks nice.

Casey Schutlz Summer Session (with Chris Brown) … sounds like a pop R&B song…
Filmed by Ryan and I, Edited by me, Produced by Rated Gnar

OK! SO, before music and smart phones consumed my life (and many of our lives) I used to skateboard a lot more and film, edit, and produce skate video with some rad, talented, & inspiring friends. 10 years ago we were hoping to put out a semi-full length skateboarding film for fun and documentation - a little slice of people and spots within our Saratoga Springs skate scene. Before iPhones, we carried around a MiniDV tape camcorder with a fisheye lens (all standard, at best, quality at the time) and went everywhere and hit every spot we could with basically no money or regard for the rules. We filmed mostly in 2008 & 2009 around Saratoga and other Upstate, NY places in hopes to upload this thing on YouTube (which had only existed for like 3 years). As time went on, the concept kind of got abandoned and as the parts were slowly finished they popped online and eventually that’s where they all ended up. BUT NOW, for the first time ever, the full film is actually complete (enough) and presented for nostalgic good fun. Those days and the people involved with this video were so important, fun, and inspiring to me. The good ol’ days. Love you all, and skateboarding, and I’m still throwin’ down as much as I can <3 Rated gnaR Films (in association with Bad Culture Films & Rec City Skates) presents DIRTY MANEUVER 25+ minutes (plus bonus videos) featuring @superdarkchris @casey_gnar @paullydiamond @toilet_victim @zakyounginstafam and Dan Levy Please excuse the quality of (some of the skating & antics haha) and the decade old equipment. Thank you all, share with the homies, and enjoi! https://youtu.be/DP2emyubPHk

Times can be uncertain, sad, & scary... like now... which reminds me of my twenties heh... so seems like an appropriate time, since no can do much anyway, to let you know my two lofi solo albums are on all streaming sites (and bandcamp) if anyone is interested. Both compiled/ created during my 20’s and represent a specific, nostalgic journey and moments in my life during that era. Both are experimental in some way, but the first album is songs that came to be over time and whether winged or half-written I chose to make exist instead of forgetting them or not creating a all. I’d call if lofi alt-folk post-punk I guess. The second album is instrumental and structured loop based “practice jams” basically, but they have their moments and meaning all recorded randomly in a year span while living on Church St in Saratoga where Super Dark Collective was born. I’d call it lofi experimental loop jams. I was inspired at the time to actually collect all of these lofi weirdo sad time half songs and put them out thanks to Asa, Shane, Kieran, & Tony. Hope you all are doing well and staying healthy and safe out there! Much love!
